Alexisonfire

Alexisonfire (pronounced 'alexis-on-fire') is a post-hardcore band from St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Their music is characterized by turbulent and explosive dynamics with intricate guitar melodies. Consisting of five friends, they formed in late 2001 as the result of a three-band break up.

The band's name is a sort-of homage to an adult entertainer named Alexis Fire, who claimed to be the world's only lactating contortionist stripper. This caused problems when she discovered that they were using her website name (alexisonfire.com) as their band name, and threatened to sue. However, since she had never trademarked the title nothing became of these threats. In the end, the band decided to change their website's URL in spite to theonlybandever.com

Alexisonfire’s lyrical topics range from relationship troubles to go-karting. They have two primary vocalists, screaming duties carried out by George Pettit, and singing by Dallas Green, with support from Wade MacNeil.

While their largest fanbase was in their home country of Canada, they also became more popular in other parts of the world, including the U.S. Recently they toured Europe, the UK and Australia with the band Rise Against, with numerous European venues selling out or having to be upgraded to accommodate the large number of fans.

The band was nominated for "ugliest rock band ever" at the CASBY awards (held by local Toronto radio station) but lost out to another Toronto born band named Sum 41.

The band consists of:
George Pettit - Vocals
Dallas Green- Vocals and guitar
Wade MacNeil - Guitar and backup vocals
Jordan 'Ratbeard' Hastings - Drums
Chris Steele - Bass

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
