Amerie

Amerie Rogers (born January 12, 1978), known professionally as Amerie, is an African/Korean-American international R&B star. Amerie has released three albums. Her 2002 debut album "All I Have" was highly acclaimed by critics. Her two singles "Why Don't We Fall In Love" and "Talkin' To Me" were both successful R&B hits.The album sold 900,000 copies world wide and went gold in the US.

In 2005, Amerie burst back onto the music scene with her fourth single "1 Thing", which was used as the theme song for the movie "Hitch". "1 Thing" went to the top of the charts in various international markets, including the US, UK and most others around the world. It earned her a grammy nomination for best female R&B vocal performance (the album Touch was also nominated for the "Best Contemporary R&B album" grammy ).The album sold an estimated 800,000 copies worldwide and went gold in the US and silver in the UK.

Her third album 'Because I Love It' was released in the UK , Europe and Asia only. . The single "Take Control" was the first single released off the album, which enjoyed international success. The second single "Gotta Work" did not fare as well in the charts, despite receiving heavy airplay on UK and European music video channels. The album has sold a combined total of 310,000 copies worldwide and is her most critically acclaimed album.

In late 2007 was reported that Amerie had left her label Columbia Records, and signed with the Island Def Jam Music Group, and is currently working on her next studio album , executively produced by Byran Micheal Cox.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
