Babasónicos

Babasónicos is a rock music band from Argentina, formed in the early 1990s along with other groups such as Peligrosos Gorriones and Los Brujos.

Their lead singer, Adrián Rodríguez, and their keyboardist, Diego Tuñón, initially decided to create a new wave style, which wouldn't follow the established Argentine music.
The other band members are drummer Diego Castellano (Panza), Adrián's brother guitarist and occasionally singer Diego Rodríguez, guitarist Mariano Domínguez, and bassist Gabriel Manelli.
During the early years of the band, DJ Peggyn played with them, but he was later expelled from the band because, as Adrián said, "No lo necesitábamos más y lo rajamos" ("We no longer needed him, and we sacked him").

Although the band has featured many styles throughout its various albums, after the release of Jessico (2001), their recording label, Dargelos Inc. decided to forget their past and begin a new career as a typical pop band. Some believe this to be a contradiction with their original tenets, and that Babasónicos has turned into a mainstream marketable band.
Their last two records, Infame (2003), and Anoche (2005) seem to be further evidence of their attempt to reach a broader audience at the expense of the band's originality and spunk.

In 1999 they collaborated with alternative rock artist Ian Brown on a track for his second studio album, Golden Greats, that bears their name.

In early 2008, the official site informed that after a long and painful struggle with Hodgkins lymphoma, bass player Gabriel "Gabo" Mannelli passed away on January the 12th. He was 38 years of age.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
