BulletBoys

BulletBoys are a glam metal band that was formed by vocalist Marq Torien, guitarist Mick Sweda, and bassist Lonnie Vencent in the late 1980s after they left King Kobra. It also featured new young rock drummer Jimmy D'Anda.

The band’s first two albums (Bullet Boys and Freakshow) were well received by critics [citation needed] and fans alike. Some critics compared the band to David Lee Roth-era Van Halen, as Torien's vocal and performing similarities were noted as being derivative. That argument was furthered by the fact that Ted Templeman produced both the Roth-era Van Halen albums and the BulletBoys. It is noted that the guitar work for the Bulletboys was nowhere near the level of Edward Van Halen so the comparisons are limited.

The BulletBoys split up in 1993. Singer Marq Torien and bassist Lonnie Vencent continued to use the BulletBoys name and recorded Acid Monkey, a heavily alternative inspired album that was a major departure from the band’s usual hard rock style.

All original members got together to record one album in 2000 titled Greatest Hits: Burning Cats And Amputees. Marq and Lonnie released a new album, Sophie in 2003 under the BulletBoys name. This album featured vocal performances from former Skid Row lead singer Sebastian Bach.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
