Cherri Bomb

Rising from an intense search for the most talented girl rock musicians in the LA area comes the uniquely explosive alt-rock band "Cherri Bomb". Why unique? The average age of these rocker chicks is just 13 years old! Cherri Bomb combines their classic & current rock influences and blends alt-rock sensibilities with a pop edge to stir up rocking, radio ready, uber-memorable songs.

The band was formed in ‘08 by lead singer & guitar player Julia Pierce-13 formerly from New Jersey. She says, "It was not an easy process to find girls that could really rock. They had to genuinely play instruments, sing & possess that old school attitude of killing it on stage. My dream was to create a monster rock band." They were well on their way. With the addition of Nia Lovelis-13 on drums, a hard-hitting drummer from NY whose influences range from John Bonham to Josh Freese, Miranda Miller-14 originally from FL and a multi-talented guitar & keyboard player, and Rena Lovelis-12 also from NY and the newest member on bass.

With their newly adopted slogan, "Rock's New Generation", the band was complete. Miranda notes, "Getting Rena in the band was key, her presence is huge and having both sisters as the rhythm section is really special."

Their influences are from classic rock giants like Led Zep, Beatles, Queen & Aerosmith to A Perfect Circle, Alanis, Green Day, Muse & Paramore. All of the girls can sing lead & thrive on creating three & four part harmonies for their songs. Julia adds, "There is something so amazing about those backgrounds in old Beatles & Queen songs. We work really hard in trying to find some interesting combinations."

The band has played some impressive gigs including the NAMM show, the Roxy opening for the "Chelsea Girls", and a July 4th extravaganza for 30K fans at Warner Park, CA. They have also received a Cert. of Recognition from the City of LA for their commitment to the community. The girls want to inspire a generation and give back to their fans.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
