Chris Ward Rarely does an entertainer emerge that has the multi-faceted talent that Chris Ward brings to the country music scene. Chris has been labeled "The Voice" by many of his famous peers, but it doesn't stop there. As an entertainer, Chris brings an electrifying stage presence to his performances, that leave his fans satisfied, but always wanting more. As Chris would say, music is in his blood, and has been since he started playing the guitar and singing in his early childhood. Always encouraged by his mother and father to pursue his talent, Chris evolved and grew as a musician and a singer. Like any entertainer, trying to make it in the music field, Chris also endured a series of setbacks and disappointments that served to make him a better entertainer and person in the long run. Like Chris says in one of his songs, "What don't kill you makes you stronger".
After moving to Nashville, in the nineties, Chris worked as a demo singer, often singing many now famous country songs that were eventually cut by other artists, including Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, and George Strait. This was the crucial period where Chris fine tuned his raw talent, and started becoming the polished and professional artist that he is today. Many notable songwriters and famous singers have heard Chris on these demos, and wondered who the voice belonged to. During this critical time in his career, Chris became very good friends with Charlie Daniels, who encouraged Chris to pursue the dream. In fact, Chris and Charlie played many charity benefits together, where he continued to fine tune his art.
To see Chris in concert, is truly an awesome experience. Whether he is playing a charity or opening a gig for Dwight Yokum or Billy Ray Cyrus, it's very common to see standing ovations at the end of his performance.
While Chris earned his living as a demo singer in Nashiville he continued to fill concert halls playing to fans in such places as the Grand Ol Opry and the Wild Horse saloon in downtown Nashville. It was during this period that Chris was discovered by the legendary producer James Stroud then president of Giant records. Stroud quickly recognized the charisma and kick ass talent that Chris posessed, and took Chris under his wing. It was during this time that Chris was invited to join Giant records along with his recording boot camp buddies, Kenny Chesney, John Berry, Clay Walker and Darrell Singletary. While Chris enjoyed the production of his debut album, One Step Beyond, he was met by another surprise.
Having been a songwriter for Kicking Bird Music, Chris co-wrote a song called "See Ya" which became a top hit for the band, "Confederate Railroad". While Chris continued to finish his debut album, and produce his music videos, the whispers about the new artist, Chris Ward, continued to grow louder and louder. Although Chris enjoys playing in large concert halls and arenas, it was not uncommon to find Chris playing his guitar in a small honky tonk in or around music row. Chris is the kind of guy that won't forget where he comes from. You know.....his roots. In fact, sometimes Chris needs to be reminded that he is a star. He naturally feels a little uncomfortable with the "star treatment". You know all the fuss and limos and such. In fact, during one night out on the town with his good friend Shania Twain, Chris was met with a level of "fan exuberance" that he personally was not used to. In Chris's own words, "That's what happens when your'e out on the town with a beautiful diva like Shania".
To sum it up, the history of Chris Ward, is not so important as the continuing story is. Chris will continue to fine tune his art, and in his own words............"Render forth".
