Corb Lund was born and raised in rural southern Alberta and comes from four generations of Canadian ranchers and cowboys. He writes and sings the songs. He grew up riding horseback, chasing cattle and rodeoing on the prairies and in the foothills of the Rockies the first half of his life. Then he spent ten years driving across Canada, the States, Australia and Europe in an old van with his indie rock band called 'the smalls', playing every funky dive along the way. His writing reflects the unholy marriage of these experiences.
He calls his music scruffy country, ulterior country, dissident country, subversive country, insubordinate country, non-toxic country, or post apocalyptic modern traditional western music with some hair on it. Take your pick.
Kurt Ciesla plays the string bass in the band. He has a deep background in jazz, funk and classical music, and applies it to the rockabilly/country bass. He does some pretty innovative stuff from AND he's from Lethbridge.
Grant 'Demon' Siemens is from Winnipeg, Manitoba and rips it up on stage right, every night. He plays the Fender Telecaster, lap steel, dobro, banjo and most everything with strings on it...except the fiddle, which he claims to be working on...
Drummer, Brady Valgardson, was raised outside Taber, Alberta, two miles from Corb's place, and still farms there with his folks when he's not on the road. He comes from an entire family of farmer/drummers...dad, mom, sister.
