Eleni Tsaligopoulou (Ελένη Τσαλιγοπούλου) was born in Naoussa, Greece, a small town in the northern part of the country. She used to sing at her father's tavern as a teenager. She went to Thessaloniki and started performing professionally in early 80s. Composer Giorgos Zikas heard her and composed her first LP "Sopa ki Akouse" ("Be Silent and Listen"), featuring famous George Dalaras (Γιώργος Νταλάρας). Since then, she has had a successful career, with lots of songs and a variety of genres, ranging from old Greek folk songs to a newer, pop style.
