Enuff Z'Nuff was formed by Donnie Vie and Chip Z'Nuff in 1985. The original band line-up consisted of guitar player Gino Martino and drummer BW Boeski, both of whom were soon replaced - leaving the "classic" band line-up of Donnie Vie, Chip Z'Nuff, guitarist Derek Frigo and drummer Vikki Foxx for their major label releases.
The band premiered with their 1989 Self-Titled debut and had quick success with the singles "New Thing" and "Fly High Michelle." This album was followed up with 1991's "Strength" record, which although critically acclaimed, was a commercial disappointment. Drummer Vikki Foxx left the band in 1993 after recording their third offering, "Animals with Human Intelligence." Guitarist Derek Frigo would soon follow suit, leaving just one year later.
The band continues to exist to this day with a revolving line-up, recording and touring independently with founders Chip Z'Nuff and Donnie Vie at its core. As of 2009, they have released a total of 12 studio albums, a noteworthy amount in comparison to their peers. The band's most recent offering, "Dissonance," was released in Japan earlier this year, with state-side and European releases pending.
Tragedy has struck the band twice recently. In 2004, former guitarist Derek Frigo had rejoined the band for some recording sessions, but unfortunately passed away that same year. Long-time Enuff Z'Nuff drummer Ricky Parent would lose his battle with cancer in 2007.
Currently, the band has some Japanese dates lined up in support of the new album. However, they are currently mainly focused with other projects. Bassist Chip Z'Nuff plays with "Missing Persons" and "Adler's Appetite," a band featuring former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler, and has also recently released a solo record entitled "Johnnie Rotten Jr.". Singer Donnie Vie has been releasing solo material as well, and is also currently involved with guitarist C.J. Szuter in a band called "LA Smogg."
