Giant

There are two bands that go by the name of Giant.

1) An American aor/hard rock band that was formed in 1987 by brothers Dann and David Huff. The band had one hit single with its power ballad I'll See You in My Dreams. They disbanded in the early 90's after two studio albums. Dann Huff revived the Giant name in 2001 with the album entitled, "III". Dann is a high-demand session player and producer in Nashville who has worked with many artists from Faith Hill to Megadeth.

2) (Current) An experimental doom metal band in the vein of Isis, Pelican and Neurosis hailing from North Carolina. They have released a EP (Song) as well as a split with past tour mates Tides. Giant blend innovative instrumentation, including strings and organ, with their heavy, towering, yet melodic sound. They uphold strong anti-capitalist, vegan, straightedge ideals, and both intellectual and deeply passionate elements can found in their music and lyrics. Giant has released music through Southern Empire records and Level Plane and recently signed to The End records.

The band have now changed their name to Brave Young.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
