Katharine McPhee

Runner-up of the fifth season of the FOX smash hit TV show "American Idol" in 2006, Katharine McPhee (born March 25, 1984 in Los Angeles, California) is known for her sexy, jazzy sultry voice. With a large fan base (calling themselves The Kat Pack/McPhans/McPheever) and even larger pipes, Katharine was considered to be a contender to win the show. On the Top 3 show of American Idol 5, judge Simon Cowell called her rendition of Judy Garland's classic "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" "The best performance in the competition to date." This version has been the song's highest ever placement on Billboard Hot 100.

An updated list of song choices includes: "Since I Fell For You", "All In Love Is Fair", "Think", "Until You Come Back To Me", "Come Rain Or Come Shine", "The Voice Within", "Bringing Out The Elvis", "Who Wants To Live Forever", "Someone To Watch Over Me", "I Have Nothing", "Against All Odds","Black Horse And The Cherry Tree", "Hound Dog/All Shook Up", "Can't Help Falling In Love", "I Believe I Can Fly", "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", "I Ain't Got Nothing But The Blues", and her debut single "My Destiny".

In January 2007, McPhee released her first single off her debut album, "Over It", along with her self-titled album. The album earned a No. 2 placement on the Billboard 200 chart, topped by Norah Jones. Her respectable placement was earned by sales of 120,000 albums, which is respectable especially for a January shipment. Although the debut of the album was a tremendous start, the following weeks did not follow at all, causing the album to drop out of the charts. It was her single "Over It" that stayed in the limelight. With a No. 1 spot on TRL, and VH1 it remained strong in sales. Her sales reached over 400,000 on this single and approaching a gold status. Her single reached No. 29, through many weeks on the chart, and just bowed below No. 20 in terms of airplay. Although it did not hit very high, it stayed on the charts for a long time. Internationally, Over It was a smash hit in Asia. "Over It" enjoyed 11 consecutive weeks at #1 on MTVAsia. The follow-up single, "Love Story", has not been enjoying such success, with only #6 on TRL and did not make Billboard Hot 100 charts.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
