Kristina Cornell

Kristina Cornell Lofton Creek Records have managed to find one of the finest voices among the many new female country singers. Kristina Cornell literally brings to life every word to her songs. With a mixture of slow tunes as well as upbeat, there is no way to go wrong. If every artist put this much energy into one album, there would be no music on the shelves. Expect to hear great things from this rising star, because she has raw talent and sheer beauty.
When it comes to upcoming stars there are a lot of potentials, but sitting at the top is Kristina Cornell. Her label, Lofton Creek Records has a reputation for talented artists, but they have managed to get to another level. With her angelic voice, she has recorded ten new songs which demonstrate her vocal range and unique sound. Kristina's sound is definitely her own, but heavily influenced with the sound of The Judds and Linda Davis. Kristina is also a songwriter, who has written with Curb Recording artist Billy Dean and even Brad Martin. Along with her singing capabilities, she has landed roles in videos for Travis Tritt, Terri Clark and even Vince Gill. If that combination is not exciting enough, she also teamed with Dave Gibson who is one half of the legendary Gibson-Miller Band. Dave is an awesome singer, songwriter and performer on his own, and has now produced Kristina's new album It's A Girl Thing. With all these factors, it is obvious why this album is a must for every collection. There is no denying the songs are unique, and like no other in Music City. Starting off with the title track, her voice gets you moving, and truly shows off her soulful, down home voice. This is definitely a "girl power" tune, but will make anyone stomp their feet. With the first tune, it also shows Kristina's up-beat attitude and fun loving style which makes it obvious why "It's A Girl Thing."
Moving on to the rest of this phenomenal album Kristina slows it down a little bit with "Whenever It Rains." This one is great because everyone has lived this song at one point or another. It is about breaking up and how she is fine and is moving on, but everything changes "Whenever It Rains." Hitting everyone close to home, hopefully this eventually will be released as a single. "Real Man" is another "gal power" tune and simply is what Kristina is looking for in a man. My personal favorite is a heart wrenching tune about a little girl who lost her father and sends him "Little Red Balloons." This song pulls at your emotions from start to finish. There is no way to describe someone's loss, but this really gives you an inside look on someone's life who really did have to go through this life altering ordeal. "Tumbleweed" shows off her soulful side more than any other song on this album and is another break-up song. This brings on a whole new meaning to "going with the flow." Proving that she has moved on is an understatement, but "being at the mercy of the wind" describes how she is getting through life. "Ain't It Just Like Me" is the final track, but it is worth the wait. Songwriting is one thing this talented artist is right on the mark with. Proving that whatever her heart feels, she has no problem putting it down on paper and eventually singing it for the world. Kristina Cornell's debut album is rock solid and an instant classic!

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
