Louise Goffin is the daughter of two of the most celebrated songwriters of the twentieth century, Gerry Goffin and Carole King. For any kid, this would be something of a millstone, and when she released her debut album Kid Blue at the age of 16 in 1979, inevitable comparisons with her mother weighed heavily and led to an almost predictably lukewarm reception. After an equally frosty reception to her self-titled sophomore effort, Goffin took another nine years to release the album This is the Place (1988), then another 14 to re-emerge with her fourth effort, 2002’s Sometimes a Circle.
