Mariana Aydar

Mariana Aydar is the daughter of the musician Mario Manga and Bia Aydar, a Brazilian music producer. She grew up backstage, sleeping in dressing rooms, hanging out with studio musicians, learning to sing, play the cello and guitar and absorbing diverse musical influences. Her musical career began in 2000.

In 2004, after years of study in Brazil and at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, she moved to Paris for a year where she met Seu Jorge, who invited her to open his concerts in Europe. After returning to Brazil in 2005 Aydar started working on her debut disc, Kavita 1, which launched in September 2006. Over the past decade she has performed with many established and emerging Brazilian artists, including Elba Ramalho, Dominguinhos, Arnaldo Antunes, Toni Garrido, Samuel Rosa, Daniela Mercury, CéU and João Donato.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
