Metronomy

Joseph Mount used to be Metronomy. Oscar Cash, Gabriel Stebbing and Joseph Mount are now Metronomy. Metronomy have come to be known for some super-cool remixes, dance-tastic live shows and an aversion to over-production.

Metronomy (still just Joseph Mount) released his debut 'Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)' to a modicum of critical acclaim. The name of the album comes from a car wrecker who lived in Joe's town of Totnes who was owed money by a man called Pip Paine. The car wrecker would leave wrecked cars around Totnes with the proclamation "Pip Paine, Pay The £5000 You Owe".

'Nights Out' is the second album by Metronomy (now with all 3 members) which was released on 08 September 2008. The genesis for the album was as "a half-arsed concept album about going out and having a crap time" .Because of recent success with remixes and their first album, Nights Out has the potential to lead to mainstream success.

Metronomy live shows are recognised for their charming dance routines and light shows. Most notable is the use of push lights stuck to their chests. Joseph explained in an interview where the idea came from:
"We did our first gig in Brighton and a few days before I saw these lights in a pound shop and I thought ‘we’ll whack these on our t-shirts and do some synchronised light shows!’ I’m totally aware that some people hate it but equally I think some people enjoy it just for the fact that it's a bit of fun."

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
