Platinum Weird

Platinum Weird is Dave Stewart from Eurythmics and songwriter Kara DioGuardi. The band was formed somewhat accidentally in 2004 while the pair were assigned to write songs for Pussycat Dolls.

They achieved some notoriety by creating a fictional history placing the band's origin in 1973, complete with a VH1 mockumentary that introduced mythical singer-songwriter Erin Grace. Erin, who bears an intentional resemblance to Stevie Nicks, is supposed to have written several of the songs when befriending Dave and Kara at different times in the past.

In 2006 Platinum Weird released numerous "1974" and "current" versions of their songs through Internet viral marketing, followed by three tracks on iTunes in July 2006, and a promo (free) EP CD in stores August 22, 2006. Their debut album is due out on September 19, 2006 in the USA, according to their free Promo CD liner, but stores do not have it. The Platinum Weird website states that the album "Make Believe" was released in US stores on October 10, 2006, and in UK stores on October 16, 2006. In the US, Best Buy stores are selling the album with a bonus disc included.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
