Rooney

Rooney is a five-piece indie band from Los Angeles signed to Geffen Records. The band is composed of Robert Schwartzman, Louie Stephens, Taylor Locke, Ned Brower, and Matthew Winter. The band is named after the character of "Principal Ed Rooney" in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Their music is reminiscent of artists spanning from the sixties to the 2000s. Although they have a distinct style, their sound has been compared to everything from The Beatles to The Cars to Blur. Having toured the nation with acts such as Weezer and The Strokes, Rooney manages to capture elements from the past four decades and make them sound modern today.

Their Sleep Song was featured and played an important part in the movie The Chumscrubber'. I'm Shakin' was featured in the TV show The OC, when the characters go to see Rooney in concert.

On July 17, 2007 they released the album Calling The World. The album debuted #42 on The Billboard Top 100 Albums.

Rooney was also a band from Liverpool (UK) formed in 1997, that released three albums and various EP's and split up in the early 00's. Their music was inspired by fellow brits like Disco Inferno and Bark Psychosis, focusing on lo-fi narrative songs and imaginative drumming.

No one has become a fan of this artist yet.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
