Shwayze

Aaron Smith (born May 29, 1986) better known by his stage name Shwayze, (a corruption of Patrick Swayze) is an American rapper. Born and raised in Malibu, California, Shwayze worked at a local Starbucks coffee shop, until meeting with Whitestarr frontman Cisco Adler at a nightclub. That night Shwayze jumped on stage during Whitestarr's performance, and started freestyling, Cisco Adler was impressed. They immediately began making music together, and landed a deal with Suretone Records.

Their first single "Buzzin'" peaked at #46 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their second single "Corona and Lime," has reached #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and #3 in the US iTunes Store. Shwayze's self-titled debut album, which Cisco Adler co-wrote, was released on August 19, 2008. Shwayze and Adler are the focus of a reality television series on MTV titled Buzzin', which debuted on July 23, 2008.

Shwayze and Cisco Adler released a mixtape entitled "Rich Girls" on November 24, 2008. The group immediately incorporated the song "Gotta Go" into their live set.

Cisco Adler stated in a blog on his Twitter page, a new Shwayze album entitled "Let It Beat" is being mixed and mastered, and will be released in September 2009. The album's first single, "Get U Home" will be released on July 14 on iTunes and was added on to Shwayze's myspace page July 1st.

In March 2009, Shwayze released a non-album track called "Rock 'n Roll" for free download on his MySpace page. They also released a music video to the song, and can be viewed on youtube.

Shwayze attended high school with Cobra Starship keytarist Victoria Asher.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
