Silvertide is an American blues rock band. They come from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in Northeast Philadelphia. At first, Silvertide (which was originally called Vertigo) had four members: lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist Nick Perri, rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre, and drummer Kevin Frank . The lineup was completed with the addition of bassist Brian Weaver. They considered themselves musical outsiders during high school due to the fact that they prefered the Rolling Stones and The Who over more contemporary music. They were playing in Philly rock clubs before they were out of high school. By the end of 2001 Silvertide had been creating a buzz on the Philadelphia Indie rock scene. Their first big break came when they opened for Aerosmith during their world tour. The buzz lead them to be signed by Clive Davis' J Records. They released their first EP "American Excess" in 2002. The next summer they went to Los Angeles to record their first full album Show and Tell which was released in 2004. Unfortunately, the future of the band is not looking good. With Nick Perri joining Shinedown and Walt Lafty doing his solo work, it looks like the band has broken up.
