Single Gun Theory

Single Gun Theory are an electronic music band formed in 1986 in Sydney, Australia, and recording on the Canadian label Nettwerk. The band members are Jacqui Hunt (vocals), Pete Rivett-Carnac (synthesizers) and Kath Power (samplers/synthesizers). Their music combines elements of downtempo music with introspective, ethereal vocals and samples of dialogue.

They have released three studio albums: Exorcise This Wateland (1987), Like Stars in My Hands (1991), and Flow, River of My Soul (1994). In 2000, the band completed the score of the film The Monkey's Mask, receiving an APRA nomination for best soundtrack album.

Single Gun Theory issued seven singles: "Open the Skies" (1987), "Surrender" (1991), "From a Million Miles" (1992), "I Am What I See" (1992), "Fall" (1994), "Metaphysical" (1995), and "Motherland" (1995). "From a Million Miles" featured as one of the tracks in the pilot episode of the TV series Due South and appeared on the show' soundtrack album.

SGT composed the soundtrack to Kriv Stenders' award-winning documentary film Motherland. Their music also appeared in the feature films The Heartbreak Kid and Reckless Kelly; and they wrote the theme music for ABC-TV's national arts program Review and SBS-TV's Nomad. They contributed music to numerous other film and video projects and also remixed artists for Sony Music Australia and other established labels.

Since 2000, Pete and Kath have both started families, and in 2002 Pete moved to Singapore with his wife and two young daughters. At present the band is not actively working together. Pete is involved in various projects unrelated to Single Gun Theory, including production and co-writing with other artists.

Jacqui Hunt pursued a solo career. She provided vocals on the song "Euphoria (Firefly)" by Delerium from their successful album Karma (1997). Jacqui released her debut album Auraphonic in 2008, followed by an EP, Calisthenics in 2009.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
