Sonic Syndicate

Sonic Syndicate is a six-piece Swedish melodic death metal (Eden Fire era) /metalcore band. The band originally formed under the name Fallen Angels, by Richard, Roger and Robin Sjunnesson. Under the name Fallen Angels, they recorded three demos, Fall from Heaven, Black Lotus and Extinction before signing with Pivotal Rockordings in 2005. After signing with Pivotal Rockordings, the band changed its name to Sonic Syndicate and recorded its debut studio album, Eden Fire.

Following tours with Avatar, Himsa, and Amon Amarth, the band entered a contest held by Nuclear Blast Records along with nearly 1500 other entrants. Sonic Syndicate was one of the three winners and was offered a recording contract with Nuclear Blast. After working at Black Lounge Studios with producer Jonas Kjellgren (also guitarist for Scar Symmetry), Sonic Syndicate released Only Inhuman on May 18, 2007. A video for the single "Denied" soon followed, directed by Patric Ullaeus.

Due to their success under Nuclear Blast, vocalists Richard and Roland also managed to earn a song on the Nuclear Blast Allstar album titled Out of the Dark, accompanied by vocalists such as Anders Friden of In Flames, Bjorn Strid of Soilwork, and many others.

The band played at the Wacken Open Air Festival 2007, and is currently on tour in Europe with Caliban and Heaven Shall Burn. The band will return to America in the spring of 2008 supporting Nightwish.

The band started the recording process of their as-of-yet untitled third album on March 16, 2008, which will be released on Nuclear Blast later this year.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
