Valencia

Valencia is a five-piece pop-punk alternative band from Philadelphia, PA. They are on I Surrender Records and have a debut album, This Could Be A Possibility, which debuted in October 2005 and re-released in September 2006 with national distribution through RED Ink. The band met by playing local shows together around the tri-state area in their respective bands. George and JD grew up together; attending grade school, high school, and their first year of college. They joined a band called "The Capgun Heroes" with Brendan in 2001. Shane sang in local band "Attracted to Miss" and Max played drums in "The Emphasis." In 2004 the group decided to come together and form what is known today as "Valencia." The name comes from the city in Spain because it is known for it's progress and evolution; Valencia felt the same way about their music at the time of formation so they decided the name was a good fit. Valencia has toured the U.S., Japan, And Europe including as a supporting act on Tourzilla, headlined by Boys Like Girls. They have been writing and recording their new record, which they hope to release sometime in early 2008. They have already recorded most of the songs and are very confident they can one-up their debut release. Johnny Benson is Max Soria's best friend. They took him on the Warped Tour in August 2006. While on Tour, Johnny sold their t-shirts and kissed a dozen cute girls. Rumor has it, this adventure lead to the inspiration for the new album. Valencia is now signed to Columbia Records, and released "We All Need A Reason to Believe" on August 26th, 2008. Line-up: * Brendan Walter - Guitar * George Ciukurescu - Bass * Max Soria - Drums * Shane Henderson - Vocals * JD Perry - Guitar Discography: This Could Be A Possibility- [2005]

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
