Weekend

At least five bands have used this name:

1. Weekend is a punk/shoegaze/psychedelic band from San Francisco, CA. Their debut 10" was released on Mexican Summer records in December 2009 to favorable reviews.

No Pain in Pop – “Stunning, doomed, darkness…”

Fader Magazine – “…what happens if No Age traded in good vibes and instead got real angry from the depths of a muffled cavern. It’s about four minutes of build up, windy moans and plodding drums giving way to a balls to the wall freakout as the whole song collapses on itself.”

Transparent – “…the dark-hearted debut from Weekend. There’s a paralysing angst which looms large over the first few minutes of ‘Youth Haunts’ before its menacing drum-beat cuts loose and explodes into a crazed, bruised, hell-bent apocalypse.”

Split 7" with Young Prisms due out in May on Transparent Records from London. Also in the works is a full length due out on Slumberland Records Summer 2010.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
