Zachary Hunter

Zachary Hunter--Born in the hills of Southwest Virginia and raised in Piedmont, North Carolina, Zachary Hunter first picked up a guitar at age six.

But it wasn't until age 18, when scholastic sports were waning in his life, that he got serious about playing and singing. After becoming proficient on the instrument, he went on to play electric guitar and bass in a variety of bands in the late-‘80s. While living in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the early-‘90’s, Zachary began performing as a solo act in coffee shops, bars and restaurants. After several years, he finally settled in his present home of Durango, Colorado, where he further developed his musical chops playing in country cover bands.

Along the way, songwriting became a major focus, and Zachary looked to his singer/songwriter influences for inspiration, including the late Toy Caldwell of the Marshall Tucker Band, Vince Gill, Clint Black, and Steve Wariner. He participated in songwriting groups, seminars and classes, and consulted with established writers, focusing attention to the craft that helped to grow a serious songwriter alongside the performer.

With the release of his third album, In Your Dreams, on Wolf/Aspirion Records, Zachary is beginning to reap the rewards of his hard work and devotion. He wrote all 13 songs on the disc, which weaves in and out of traditional and modern country music with seamless ease. In Your Dreams was co-produced by Zachary and Ed Stasium, who has produced, engineered, and mixed a wide variety of artists in his career, including The Ramones, Mick Jagger, Joan Jett, Carly Simon, and Kathie Baillie, just to mention a few. Recorded in Colorado and Nashville, the album features an all-star cast of session players and vocalists, including, Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty), Pete Anderson (Dwight Yoakam), Brent Mason, Paul Franklin, Stuart Duncan (all "A list" Nashville session players), and Bob Babbit (one of the legendary "Funk Brothers," of Motown fame).

Critics around the world are singing Zachary’s praises. Dave Knowles of Maverick magazine, one of Europe’s most respected music publications, gives In Your Dreams a “FIVE STAR” rating and states, “With the right luck and some good consistent radio play in America, Hunter could soon have his name mentioned alongside top stars such as Alan Jackson and George Strait.” George Peden, Australia’s top-flight reviewer for CountryStarsOnline.com extols, “As a songwriter, Hunter is observant and worldly - all with a life focus. He taps into the many facets of the examined life.” And Chuck Dauphin of Music News Nashville exclaims, “Hunter takes a big step with [this] release, and I think it’s true enough of one to give him a few more down the line!”

Zachary Hunter's dream has always been to "move" people with his music, and now, with In Your Dreams, it is clear that he is achieving his dream.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
