BE HAPPY and listen to some of the happiest music...

By: Ben Clark

Ok, so I'm involved in this "30 Day Song Challenge" on facebook. I just posted my day 3 song today (a song that makes you happy). If you're interested in starting this exquisite adventure, you totally should. Here's the deal: Go to their page on facebook and click on the Rules tab on the left. This has inspired me to come up with a hand full of happy songs that was incredibly hard to choose from. Enjoy!

"Gronlandic Edit" by Of Montreal
This is the song I ended up choosing for my 'day 3 song'. As much as this song makes me happy, I still think some of the songs below this one are a better pick for my top, but nevertheless, check this band out if you've never heard of them. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin
I know, cliché. I can't help but love this song though. I love it enough to get a tattoo inspired by it... I think this may be my top happiest song.

"Walking For You" by The Avett Brothers
This is probably my favorite Avett Brothers song. When I get to talking about this band with anyone, it's always a sort of surprise when I tell them that this is my favorite album (A Carolina Jubilee), and I don't know why. This is their best album by far in my opinion.

"I Don't Feel Like Dancing" by Scissor Sisters
They have lots of happy songs, this is just my favorite I think. This is some extreme pop, haha.

"Don't Let The Bastards Grind You Down" by The Toasters
This song is one of my favorite ska songs ever. Ska in of itself is pretty intense as far as happiness goes, so naturally a ska song was bound to end up on this list.

"Oh Mandy" by The Spinto Band
These guys rock. Seriously. This is one those amazingly happy songs, and this style carries throughout the entire first two albums.

"Hell No" by Sondre Lerche & Regina Spektor
This song is only on the 'Dan In Real Life' soundtrack if I'm not mistaking. But this is such a chill, feel-good song that shouldn't be overlooked. Two incredible artists (Sondre Lerche & Regina Spektor) getting together—such a great idea. (Sorry, no video for this song)

"C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips" by Ok Go
Ok Go's attempt at bubblegum pop is very successful in my opinion. LOVE IT!

"Daydream" by The Lovin Spoonful
Still on of the happiest songs I know to this day. Oldie, but a goodie!

"Rough Gem" by Islands
These guys are all-around pretty happy. Islands is a band derived from The Unicorns, so that's to be expected I guess.

"Come Dance With Me" by Frank Sinatra
I often tell my girlfriend "Come on cutes, but on your dancin' boots, and come dance with me" in reference to this song. Such a delightful tune.

"Stomp" by The Brothers Johnson
One of the best funk songs of all time. If you know me, you probably know that I'm a funk-lovin' man! So these kind of songs just make me wanna DANCE! Can't go wrong with The Brothers Johnson.

"Let It Whip" by Dazz Band
Also one of the best funk songs out there. Love it!

"Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley
This song gives me chill bumps rather often. It just makes me feel that happy. Great way to end this list of happy songs as well. :)

Ben Clark is from Nashville, TN. He's no writer, but graphic design and illustration is totally his jam. He absolutely loves Christmas - a lot (primarily Santa Claus), believes that waffles are far better than pancakes, and enjoys good music (also to share it). So, lucky you.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
