The Kills Premiere New Video for “The Last Goodbye”

Winter 2012 Tour Begins on January 20th in Chicago

(Still from “The Last Goodbye” video)

New York, NY – Thursday, January 12th – UK duo The Kills (Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart) are kicking off the new year with a brand new video for “The Last Goodbye,” premiering today on NOWNESS, watch HERE. This is the first music video directed by the Oscar nominated actress Samantha Morton, acclaimed for her directorial feature debut ‘The Unloved.’” Shot in monochrome on crisp, silvery 35mm, the video reflects the beautiful simplicity of the track, with an old-school photo booth providing an intimate backdrop for Mosshart's intense and heart-warming opening performance followed by a series of touching to-camera poses reflecting the musicians’ longstanding, spirited friendship.

“I love the fact that when you used to go to a photo booth, you used to have wait sometimes a good twenty minutes. It could be 8 minutes, 9 minutes. Sometimes, I remember, if they were really crap, you'd have to wait forever and you'd go off for a cup of tea and you'd come back to get your passport pictures and they were there. Also, it was quite expensive when we were young. It was like a real treat but now, it's still expensive but you just get these crap images of yourself. They're just horrible and they won't last in the same way. So in a way a think the song was incredibly nostalgic and I think made me feel nostalgic.” Samantha Morton

"It was an honor to work with Samantha Morton on this Casablanca-esque, silent-film-esque, Americana photobooth Woolworth's hay day period piece of surrealism/ realism/ story time tell-tale-ism, black and white 35 mm film, washed in strange light, over this love hate tune, heartbreak song, life-goes-on lullaby, The Last Goodbye. It's a doorway into the future of the fatal past-tense. Get it?" Alison Mosshart

Praise for The Kills Live Shows:

“Singer Alison Mosshart proved yet again why she's one of rock's best frontwomen, convulsing across the stage with reckless abandon during recent tunes "Satellite" and "Future Starts Slow.” – SPIN

“And the duo's lusty performances eagerly play up the ambiguity of their platonic partnership. It's a quality that defines them as much as Mosshart's feverish moan, Hince's hand-slashing guitar riffs, and the synthetic beats...’” – Pitchfork

“Watching them lock into each other’s groove is a beautiful thing.” – KCRW

As the whole world begins to focus on The United Kingdoms capital city the evangelical music fan in me has ben reminded of the feature I wrote here a couple of years ago on a few of London’s rock and roll hotels. A lot of questions followed, mostly music fans and tourists wanting more specific information.

So, with the Olympics here and with thousands of you heading to London for the sports fiesta, this American based “Londoner” doesn’t want anyone to miss out on a huge opportunity to discover some of London’s greatest musical landmarks. So the next few Music City 411 blogs are going to see me waxing lyrical about the music heritage of my hometown. And for anyone visiting for the first time and wanting to spend some time exploring London’s musical history I’ve highlighted some safe and top-rated music-flavored hotels to make your trip as easy and rewarding as possible. I’ve stayed, eaten and drank in all the places I talk about and traipsed every street been in every venue mentioned and ridden every bus train and taxi recommended.

So let’s start where it all started. The Beatles!
