NASHVILLE, TN (January 20, 2010) – Larry Carlton has released his new album The Sound Of Philadelphia to radio worldwide exclusively via AirPlay Direct. The release is the follow up to the 2010 Grammy Nominated Take Your Pick.

Nineteen-time Grammy nominee and three-time Grammy winner Larry Carlton established himself from his first recording. With 30 albums to his credit and having performed on over 100 albums that have gone Gold or Platinum, Larry Carlton has set a standard for artistry that spans three decades.

Since 1963, the songwriting and producing team of Gamble and Huff have earned 175 gold and platinum records, defining an entire category of black popular music known as “The Sound of Philadelphia.” They were inducted into the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1995, and were awarded the prestigious Grammy Trustees Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 1999. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Philadelphia International Records.

‘We are excited to have Larry Carlton use AirPlay Direct exclusively to deliver the Sound of Philadelphia. Gamble/Huff are one of the world’s greatest songwriting team alongside Lennon/McCartney. The musicianship and arrangements on the CD are stunning. They are a perfect compliment to Larry’s amazing guitar interpretation,” says Scott Welch, President of AirPlay Direct.

Larry Carlton and his legendary guitar skills are backed by some amazing musicians including Paul Shaffer-organ, Tony DeSare-piano, Tommy Byrnes-rhythm guitar, Christopher Jackson-bass, Bill LaBounty-vocals, Andrea Valentini-drums, Vic Stevens-percussion, Mark Douthit-sax, Darcy Hepner-baritone sax, Steve Guttman-trumpet, Nick Marchione-trumpet, Dave Kirkland-trombone, and Chris Komer-french horn. This line-up brings these timeless classics back to life with a new twist that will make this unique record a must have.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
