"They're Australian, there's two of them, they're hairy, they have great riffs, they're very shouty, amazingly energetic and really rather scary onstage. Winner!"  - Huw Stephens, BBC1

"Finally got to see DZ Deathrays who are like a more punk Death From Above 1979 and totally awesome." - Jen Long, BBC1

"I love DZ Deathrays - this kind of hardcore band, they have a brilliant videos and songs and a great sense of humour and style." - Mark Ronson

"They're a two-piece but somehow they manage to sound like four hardcore bands." - Ruban, Unknown Mortal Orchestra

#4 on NME's "20 Most Exciting New Bands Of 2012"

Many people have been saying it, but you probably won't believe it until you see it. DZ Deathrays is a two-piece band: Shane Parsons (vocals/guitar) and Simon Ridley (drums). Since the first house party the Brisbane-based duo ever played, they have been noted as a relentless live act. 2011 proved to be no different as the two friends hit the highways of Australia with many acts including Foo Fighters, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, F*cked Up, and Dananananaykroyd. DZ Deathrays quickly fell into the good graces of NME and Q Magazine who both placed the band in their "Top 10 Bands of The Great Escape," while NME took their praise even further and placed them as the 4th Most Exciting New Band of 2012. Upon returning to Australia in early November 2011, Shane and Simon finally ventured into the studio to record their highly anticipated debut LP with Richard Pike (of PVT) and Neil Coombe at the White Room Studios in Mt. Nebo. What they surfaced with is a killer album that we're thrilled to be able to present to you later this year.

On March 6, 2012, DZ Deathrays will release their U.S. debut EP, No Sleep, via 3|4 (OFWGKTA, Bass Drum of Death). Shortly after the release, don't miss your chance to see DZ Deathrays at SXSW. Much more exciting news to follow - we promise.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
