K.FLAY Premieres New EP, ‘EYES SHUT’, at SPIN.com

Brand new video for “We Hate Everyone”

Plus, SXSW appearances!

“A fascinating, complicated rhyme maven: anxious yet strong willed, simultaneously listless and driven, brilliantly literate but not too highfalutin to salute her favorite TV shows.” – Dazed & Confused

“She's become one of hip-hop's most intriguing new talents” – LA Weekly

“The focus is on neuroses, internal dialogues, everyday life, the parties and problems that dominate life when you are in your early 20s. Though her K.Flay material is plenty serious, it's also irreverent and bouncy. Listening, it's hard to believe that Flaherty has so few years of musical experience — she's already putting her production skills to work doing remixes for indie and dance acts.” – Jessica Hopper, Chicago Tribune

“San Francisco’s K. Flay is the next big thing in hip hop.” – NME

Genre-defying rapper/singer/songwriter K.Flay is making her highly anticipated EP, Eyes Shut, available for FREE download at SPIN.com! You can also catch the brand new video for her first single, “We Hate Everyone” featuring bizarro, evil puppets (brought to life by actual Muppet puppeteers!) and K.Flay’s impressive vocals. A Chicago-native turned Stanford student, turned full time Brooklynite, K.Flay puts all her life experience, sarcasm, gripes, and humor into every meticulously crafted verse of this new self-produced collection. Her first single, “We Hate Everyone” came out just in time for the holidays to serve as the anti-Christmas carol with its clever, stinging chorus and churning verses while tracks like “Sunburn” and “Stop Focus” are windows down, sunglasses on jams showcasing her ultra-fast rapping ability and her brilliant lyrical prowess. Get the EP at SPIN.com HERE! You can also snag the EP for FREE off of K.Flay’s site at www.KFlay.com!

Fresh off the heels of a run of dates with Theophilus London, K.Flay is taking her electrifying show back on the road kicking off with her EP release show at the Echo in LA on January 31st and making her way through Chicago, Boston, NYC and Philly on her way to taking the stage at SXSW! Watch this space for SXSW performance details, and full list of tour dates is below.

On stage, K.Flay is a one-woman whirlwind: whether she’s creating beats, singing, rapping or playing guitar, her intelligence and acerbic charm shine through. Her talents have led her to share the stage with artists including Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Passion Pit and 3OH!3, where she quickly won over audiences who hadn’t seen anything quite like her before. The New York Times calls her “more skilled and perhaps more interesting” than her peers – check out the feature HERE. K.Flay is also a methodical remixer – she arranged the official remix of the Beastie Boys’ “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win” (featuring Santigold). Give it a listen HERE.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
