After releasing their critically acclaimed album Habits of the Heart (Blacksmith/Element 9/Fontana) last fall, Idle Warship is kicking off the new yearin a big way. The brand new video for single "Laser Beams" has already made a splash after its New Year's Eve premiere on Hypetrak, with the video's colorful Times Square locale making it a fitting way to launch 2012. It was just chosen as Paper Magazine's Video of the Day - watch it here:

In other news, Idle Warship has announced a run of select January/February live dates, which begin today, January 4th, at S.O.B.'s in New York City. The show will be streamed via Livestream beginning at 9 p.m. EST on S.O.B.'s channel page www.livestream.com/sobs<http://www.livestream.com/sobs>. Be sure to tune in! Idle Warship will also be at SXSW in March. The full list of newly announced shows is below.

A collaboration between hip-hop luminary Talib Kweli and critically acclaimed Philly soul singer Res, Idle Warship is a genre-bending musical project born out of sheer experimentation and unbridled creative expression. Habits of the Heart stormed the music scene last year, receiving glowing praise from the likes of People Magazine, RollingStone.com, NylonMag.com, Filter, Bust, MTV Hive, YRB and Vibe.com. The group also drew attention for their unconventional idea to be the first to premiere their full album on Spotify U.S. three whole weeks ahead of release date. The album offers
a thrilling hybrid of influences including soul, hip-hop, rock, alternative and electronic, and features guest spots from Jean Grae, Jay Knocka, Chester French, Michelle Williams & John Forte.

Praise for Idle Warship and Habits of the Heart:
"...a genre-busting collab..." - People

"...a flurry of creativity that is debatably some of the strongest material of their respective careers...an album of experimental tunes that are creative, fun and suggest that these artists are even more talented than we may have thought before." - Filter

"The fact that no two songs on Habits of the Heart sound the same is a testament to the hard work of two artists who have gone the distance in their respective genres and come together to create a brand new one." - Bust

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
