The Knocks Make Waves with the Premiere of New Single Brightside

Song Set for Release on iTunes on November 8th

Neon Gold Showcase at Santos Party House

“Cred-pop’s answer to the Neptunes are kicking the living shit out of the Big Apple’s loft raves right now…they are scientists of swagger” – NME

“...DJ B-Roc and Mr. JPatt constantly jazz up popular tracks with piano pounds and booty-shaking sounds… destined for every indie iPod, from New York to Bermuda!” - New York Post

“They don't write songs so much as anthems, sort of midway between high street and hip, David Guetta and Daft Punk.” - The Guardian

It has been just one week since NYC-based producers-turned-electro hip-pop duo The Knocks premiered their brand new dancefloor-ready single “Brightside” on Popjustice.com. In just three days the song shot to the Top 5 on Hype Machine. Now it just hit the #1 spot on the Hype Machine Twitter Chart this week. Its release is on iTunes November 8th via A&M/Octone. The single release will also include remixes by Fred Falke, DiscoTech, Lenno, and Jaybird.

Brightside by The Knocks

The Knocks will be performing “Brightside” and many other party-starters in NYC during the CMJ Music Marathon October 21st at the Neon Gold Showcase at Santos Party House at 1am EST. Then they head to LA to join an incredible line-up that includes Fatboy Slim and Rusko for Hard Haunted Mansion at The Shrine Expo Hall on October 28th. The Knocks recently signed to A&M/Octone in the U.S. and are set to release a forthcoming EP, due out before the end of the year.

Declared by the NME in 2010 as one of the “20 hottest producers in music” for their versatile production and remix work for the likes of Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Flo Rida, Passion Pit, Foster The People, Britney Spears and Chiddy Bang, The Knocks – Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “Jpatt” Patterson – are now electrifying the blogosphere and the clubs both in the U.S. and overseas with their own songs. One of the most buzzed-about duos on the dance circuit, NME recently said that The Knocks have “stepped out from behind the desk to rebirth the Superstar DJ.”

The Knocks took their name from their early days of their production career when they had disgruntled neighbors pounding on the walls and ceilings as they worked out of their home studios. Coupled with DJing and making mixtapes, the pair cobbled together enough money to open their own studio Heavy Roc Music in the heart of the Lower East Side. After releasing “Dancing with the DJ” via Heavy Roc, the song shot to #1 on Hype Machine and hit #1 on Japan’s Electronic Songs Chart. They released their next single “Make It Better” on Neon Gold Records and were playlisted on Australia’s #1 radio station Triple J and BBC Radio One – all evidence that The Knocks make music that can resonate around the globe. When they were invited to create Hype Machine’s annual year-end mix last year, it became the most downloaded mix in Hype Machine’s history.

The Knocks, whose DJ sets and live shows will make even the wallflowers get on the floor, sold out their Bowery Ballroom debut in NYC, have toured with the likes of M.I.A., Sleigh Bells, Scissor Sisters, Die Antwoord, Ellie Goulding and Chromeo and have plans to share the stage with Fatboy Slim and David Guetta.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
