GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT THIS WEEKEND
MTB Takes Center Stage at the Ryman Auditorium this Weekend, Joining Diamond Rio, Joe Diffie, the Del McCoury Band, Riders in the Sky, Bill Anderson, Others
Nashville, Tenn. (November 14, 2011) – This Saturday night, November 19, for the first time, legendary southern rock group The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB) will perform on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.
Since its conception 40 years ago, the MTB has played thousands of live shows, from Madison Square Garden to the White House, but never the Grand Ole Opry.
“This is a really cool thing for The Marshall Tucker Band, “ says lead singer and founding member Doug Gray. “In 40 years, we’ve never played the Grand Ole Opry. This has been such a great year for us and jamming on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium puts the icing on the cake.”
The MTB will perform on the 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM editions of this Saturday night’s Grand Ole Opry. Both shows will be broadcast live on Nashville’s 650 AM WSM and Sirius-XM channel 56, Willie’s Roadhouse.
In anticipation of the band’s Grand Ole Opry debut, Doug Gray will join 650 AM WSM’s, “Coffee, Country & Cody” radio show live this Friday morning at 9:15 AM.
The band’s Grand Ole Opry performance and several other career highlights will keep them busy throughout the remainder of 2011. On November 22, the MTB releases The Marshall Tucker Band: Greatest Hits in vinyl form. The 17-track record contains 14 classic MTB hits as well as three previously unreleased live recordings.
Next month, the MTB joins ZZ Top, John Kay and Steppenwolf, George Thorogood and the Destroyers and others on the inaugural Rock Legends Cruise to the Bahamas. The Royal Caribbean vessel departs Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the four-day cruise on December 1 with proceeds benefiting the Native American Heritage Association.
