MOON TAXI PREMIERE NEW VIDEO FOR “CABARET” ON RELIX.com!

New album Cabaret out February 7th

On Tour Now!

Moon Taxi has premiered their new video for Cabaret on Relix.com. Check out the new video here:

Inspired by the projections on the walls of Bennie’s Boom Boom Room, a club in Hattiesburg, MS that the band frequently plays, Moon Taxi used the array of stock footage to mix modern and vintage aesthetics. “Cabaret” is the title track off of Moon Taxi’s forth coming album, due out on February 7th, 2012. The Nashville band is currently on the road in the midst of their MPFree tour, which gives fans that purchase tickets in advance a free download of a new track from Cabaret. Remaining tour dates, including the band’s legendary New Year’s Eve show and a special show at Brooklyn Bowl, below.

Impressively produced by the band's guitarist Spencer Thomson, guest-producer Hank Sullivant, and mixed by GRAMMY award winning sound engineer Vance Powell, Cabaret weaves the magnetic energy of Moon Taxi’s live show with musical ingenuity and thoughtful lyrics. With inspiration ranging from surrealist art, to Tom Robbins books, to encounters while touring the country, Cabaret is a fully evolved album with depth and intensity that is unexpected from a band that also has a knack for getting everyone in a room to dance. Moon Taxi fans will be eager to get their hands on these new tracks, which range from explosive (see: “Mercury Youth”) to emotionally introspective (see: “Let’s Go Back”). Title track “Cabaret” has a propulsive beat that unfolds into a mischievous groove. Heavily road tested, track “Hypnus” is sure to be a live classic with its unrelenting beat and acrobatic vocals from Trevor Terndrup. Friend and tour mate Matisyahu lends guest vocals to “Square Circles,” which the band recorded on board the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus at this year’s Hangout Festival. “Radio” creates its own brand of southern tinged pop, while closing track “Gunflower” is a lovely last chapter that rolls the album to a close.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
