“Cred-pop’s answer to the Neptunes are kicking the living shit out of the Big Apple’s loft raves right now…they are scientists of swagger” – NME
“...The Knocks are about to take over...a total adrenaline rush...” – Nylon
“...DJ B-Roc and Mr. JPatt constantly jazz up popular tracks with piano pounds and booty-shaking sounds… destined for every indie iPod, from New York to Bermuda!” - New York Post
“They don't write songs so much as anthems, sort of midway between high street and hip, David Guetta and Daft Punk.” - The Guardian
NYC-based producers turned electro-hip-pop duo The Knocks have debuted their brand new video for “Brightside” on Vevo.com yesterday December 1st . Watch it here:
...or head over to YouTube to catch it here. “Brightside” is the lead single from The Knocks’ Magic EP, which premieres in full tomorrow December 2nd on FilterMagazine.com and is set for digital release December 6th on A&M/Octone. Capturing the true essence of the six-song EP, the video is an exploration into that magical vibe and carefree mood that end up leading to an unforgettable night out, as it does for the “ultra-cool” delivery man turned life-of-the-party.
"Brightside" lit up dance floors in October when the band leaked the song on Soundcloud, immediately climbing to the Top 5 on Hype Machine and #1 on the Hype Machine Twitter Chart. “Brightside” is out now on iTunes, and features remixes from Fred Falke, DiscoTech, Lenno, and Jaybird. EP title track "Magic," featuring British singer/producer Gary Go, recently premiered on NylonMag.com, where it became the most-streamed song ever on Nylon’s Soundcloud.
Featuring production by Victor Van Vugt (Fischerspooner, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave), Fab Dupont (Shakira, Mark Ronson, Jennifer Lopez), and Gary Go (Benny Benassi), the Magic EP makes it clear to see why The Knocks have become one of the most buzzed-about duos on the dance circuit. With a nu-disco vibe, club-friendly beats, glorious choruses and piano hooks, the duo - Ben “B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson – makes electronic music sound organic, installing a soul amongst all the ones and zeros. Shortly after the NME declared The Knocks to be one of the “20 hottest producers in music” for their versatile production and remix work for the likes of Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Foster The People, Chiddy Bang and Katy Perry, the NME was once again singing The Knocks’ praises, this time for their own songs, saying that they have “stepped out from behind the desk to rebirth the Superstar DJ.” Don’t forget to head over to FilterMagazine.com tomorrow to listen to the full EP stream!
The Knocks just kicked off a 9-date run of UK shows with DJ Shadow and will head out on the high seas for the Weezer Cruise from January 19-23. The Knocks will be sailing alongside Weezer, Wavves, Dinsosaur Jr., Sleeper Agent and many more incredible bands for a cruise from Miami to the island of Cozumel off the Gulf Coast of Mexico. Watch this space for an upcoming announcement of new U.S. dates!
