Since it began in 1993, Noise Pop Festival has become a north star for the music industry, bringing emerging and promising talent to the forefront of their lineup. Numerous acclaimed artists have graced their stages, from The White Stripes and Yoko Ono, to Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes, and many more. This six-day festival takes place across numerous event spaces in the SF area, catering to upwards of 20,000 fans. The festival has expanded in recent years to also include art gallery shows, as well as a music-centric film festival, a pop-up shop, an art exposition, an album-inspired dinner series called Covers, a weekend workshop exploring independent culture called the Noise Pop Culture Club, and much more. With all of these events, Noise Pop has solidified itself as the true amalgamator of Bay Area culture, and continues to do what it has always done best: celebrating the independent arts with the city at large.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
