The Creators Project Kills It At Coachella

Posted on Wed, Apr 20, 2011 at 2:30 PM

By now you have heard how The Creators Project revamped Coachella as we love sending the info like a hippie loves a glowstick! If you haven't gotten it by now Sylvan Learning Center can help - get started today.

“First, let me tell you about the installation by the artist and filmmaker Jonathan Glazer and J. Spaceman of the band Spiritualized. It’s not a performance, just a long, dark, enclosed tent with music and light. The music is the 1997 song by Spiritualized, “Ladies and Gentleman We Are Floating in Space,”…and the space is illuminated by five rectangular shafts of light… The song comes at you in a continuous loop from directional speakers playing the song’s various stems…When you lie down in the rectangles, you hear an individual part most strongly, and you feel heat from the light…Clean and meditative and self-contained: the opposite of the festival-going experience.” – Ben Ratliff, New York Times

“During the chorus of Arcade Fire's best-known song, "Wake Up," hundreds of beach balls floated down on the crowd from above the stage…The ethereal orbs glowed from the inside, magically changing hues from blue to red to green as they were batted about the field. It was, as they say, a moment - …the brainchild of The Creators Project…” - CNN.com

“…at this year's Coachella, both the sound and space can claim to be groundbreaking art...” – Los Angeles Times

“…all in the service of scrambling the senses and blowing minds…” – New York Times

“…(The Creators Project is) delightful enlightenment…” - USA Today

“…the stage is the show…” – Wall Street Journal

“…the Arcade Fire performance was taken to eye-popping new highs through the band's partnership with The Creators Project, who transformed a standard rock show into a multimedia extravaganza…” – Billboard.com

“…(The Creators Project) hinged on the combination of the visual and musical…” – Spin.com

“The stage freaked out. It came alive, unfolding and moving after Interpol's set to some crazy, evil drone while strobing like a cosmic wonder that was hallucinating-on-drugs awesome.” – AOL Spinner

“…(The Creators Project) took trippy to a new level…” – MTV.com

“…(The Creators Project brings) unexpected thrills…” - Billboard.com

“…a serious mindblowing moment during Arcade Fire's Coachella set…” - BrooklynVegan tweet

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
