Elenowen, "The Voice's" Breakthrough Duo, Reach #1 on iTunes

Posted on Wed, Jun 15, 2011 at 11:24 AM

Elenowen, the husband and wife musical duo of Josh and Nicole Johnson, have captured the ears and imagination of America since they joined country star Blake Shelton’s team on the hit NBC series The Voice during their blind audition. The press also took notice: Today Show hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hota Kotb became early supporters of the duo as well, and Rolling Stone singled out the band in its coverage of the show.

With their first single, “Honey Come Home,” Elenowen’s heartfelt, insightful lyrics and ethereal pop harmonies have continued to strike a chord with listeners, propelling the track straight to #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart. Filmed in Nashville, TN their live performance video of “Honey Come Home” captures all that genuine emotional intensity between the duo and more. Check it out at www.elenowen.com.

This song is just a taste of what fans can expect from their upcoming sophomore release, which they are currently in the studio working on (details will be announced soon). And the duo’s rising popularity doesn’t stop there. They performed a triumphant sold out homecoming show in Nashville in late May. Discovered and managed by Big Enterprises since April 2010, Elenowen recently signed with WME.

Prior to this year, Elenowen had been working at the same local Nashville coffee shop, living from paycheck to paycheck and dreaming of making it as musicians. They self-released their first album in January 2010, Pulling Back the Black Veil, consisting of 8 original tracks they’d written about their lives as a young married couple. Their passion drove their writing and desire to be honest, real and vulnerable to their audience. Now, since their exposure on “The Voice,” their debut album reached #2 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter album chart.

In an industry hungry for something new, raw, and beautiful, Elenowen distinguishes itself as an up and coming act that completely and refreshingly satisfies its listener.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
