Smashing Pumpkins to Headline 2010 Forecastle Festival

Posted on Wed, Jun 02, 2010 at 10:56 AM

When the initial lineup was announced for this year’s Forecastle Festival, it featured many notable acts, including The Flaming Lips, Widespread Panic, Spoon and the Drive-By Truckers, but now that the full schedule has been released, some impressive and unexpected additions, namely the Smashing Pumpkins, are increasing the Louisville, Ky. event’s prominence. More than 100 bands are now scheduled to perform at the 9th annual fest, which will take place July 9-11 at the Louisville Waterfront Park.

In addition to being hosted at a new location, this year’s event will also include a nightly, punk-rock influenced circus extravaganza, Cirque Berzerk, performed by a Los Angeles-based aerial acrobatics crew.

Three-day passes for the festival can be purchased via Ticketmaster for $150 and single-day tickets are going for $60. Check out the full 2010 Forecastle lineup below:

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
