***About the David Lynch Foundation:
The David Lynch Foundation was launched six years ago to bring the stress-reducing, health-promoting benefits of Transcendental Meditation® to underserved populations, including at-risk inner-city youth and U.S. veterans returning home from combat with post traumatic stress disorder, as well as Native Americans, the homeless and prisoners. To date, the David Lynch Foundation has provided scholarships for nearly 150,000 adults and youth to learn to meditate, eliminating the traumatic stress that undermines academic achievement and fuels substance abuse and violent behavior. Independent published scientific research shows that meditating individuals have better overall mental health and students have dramatically better test scores, grades and graduation rates, while dropout rates, suspensions, and expulsions greatly decrease. About David Lynch:
Arguably the most renowned avant-garde film director and visual artist of his time, David Lynch is known for his unflaggingly original cinematic projects including Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway and The Elephant Man, not to mention his cult hit TV series “Twin Peaks.” This is not his first foray into the musical realm, as Lynch has a history of working with a host of musical luminaries. While making Blue Velvet, he needed a certain type of song for an important scene, so Lynch and his film composer Angelo Badalamenti wrote the song “Mysteries of Love” to be sung by Julee Cruise. This led to Lynch and Badalamenti writing and producing an entire album with Julee Cruise, entitledFloating Into The Night. The song “Falling” was the theme music for “Twin Peaks” and won a Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental. In 2008, having composed small sections for his other films and his musical ambitions growing, he became the eponymous creator of a record label, David Lynch MC. More recently Lynch collaborated on the album Dark Night of the Soul with Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse. Lynch designed a 100-page booklet to accompany the album, which was initially delivered--after disputes with the record company--in the form of a blank CD-R on which fans were told to “use as you will.”

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
