Gillian Welch Announces Fall Tour Dates The Harrow & The Harvest Out Now

Posted on Thu, Jul 07, 2011 at 1:59 PM

Acony Records is excited to announce the second leg of tour dates for Gillian Welch. Welch and David Rawlings will tour through the fall, making stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and New York City, culminating at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. This will be the second leg of her North American tour supporting the long-awaited release of her new album, The Harrow & The Harvest, which debuted at #20 on Billboard. Rolling Stone hailed, "Welch sounds as haunting and beautiful as ever." The full itinerary is listed below.

The response to The Harrow & The Harvest has been fantastic, recognized by Paste Magazine as "one of the richest, most expansive roots albums to be released in some time." New York Daily News deemed Welch a "national treasure...the ultimate pin-up girl for the Americana movement," while The Los Angeles Times admired the record's "lilting voices, vivid lyrical twists and crisp acoustic flourishes." The Associated Press was enthralled by the album's "10 songs that suspend time and reduce the entire world to a bare, slat-floored room," and American Songwriter praised the new songs as "defiantly spare and spectral, featuring the dueling guitars and voices of Welch and longtime partner Dave Rawlings. Their playing sounds tighter and more intuitive than ever."

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
