Posted on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 11:57 AM

Ten years of “bona fide” success are celebrated in the AirPlay Direct exclusive radio special for the Grammy Award winning “Album of the Year” soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou? Hosted by Emmy nominated television writer, best-selling author, and celebrated journalist David Wild and produced by Jon Grimson, this program highlights the impact that O Brother had on launching Americana music back into the mainstream.

“This film and album represents a very important piece of Americana,” says Robert Weingartz, Chairman and CEO of AirPlay Direct. “This new radio special /deluxe edition release is outstanding.”

The special features a new interview with T. Bone Burnett as well as comments by others from the movie and soundtrack. The Deluxe Edition, 2 CD set is packed with new and archived interviews in addition to unreleased recordings from the movie. The AirPlay Direct site also hosts audio of the seven previously unreleased tracks originally recorded for the film, including one of the last recordings ever made by the late John Hartford. Radio programmers can download a broadcast quality copy of the special here.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
