Chris Brown Sentenced After Rihanna Attack

Posted on Thu, Aug 27, 2009 at 1:06 PM

Chris Brown was in court Tuesday, August 25, where he was given his sentence for the beating of his former girlfriend, Rihanna. Brown was sentenced to five years' probation and six months' community labor, in addition to an order to stay away from his former girlfriend for the next five years. Brown will serve his sentence in his home state of Virginia.

In addition to probation and community service, Brown will also go through a 52-week domestic violence program sponsored by Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Virginia.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown that he could be sent to state prison if he violated any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna unless they're attending music industry events.

Brown was arrested February 8 after he was accused of beating Rihanna. The attack occurred in Los Angeles' Hancock Park neighborhood as Brown drove a rented sports car. A Los Angeles police detective described a brutal attack in a search warrant affidavit filed in the case, stating Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna and tried at one point to push her from the car.

Prior to the February beating, a probation report prepared for Tuesday's sentencing describes Brown was allegedly involved in two other unreported incidents "related to domestic violence" with his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

The first one occurred about three months before the February beating while the couple was traveling in Europe. Rihanna slapped Brown during an argument, and he responded by shoving her into a wall. The second incident occurred about three weeks before the February one when Brown and Rihanna were in Barbados. They had an argument while driving a Range Rover lent to them by a local dealership. Brown allegedly got out and broke both the front driver and passenger side windows. No one was injured and neither incident was reported to authorities.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
