Special Vinyl Edition of Black Dub In Stores on 9/28 Album Available 11/2

Posted on Fri, Sep 24, 2010 at 12:28 PM

Black Dub, the enigmatically eclectic new quartet helmed by acclaimed guitarist and Grammy award-winning producer Daniel Lanois, hit the road this November in support of their self titled debut album. The tour will kick off November 15th in Boston at the Paradise Rock Club and finish up in Minneapolis on November 24th.

The tour launches in conjunction with the release of the band's self-titled JIVE debut, landing in stores on November 2, 2010. Black Dub combines tripped-out soul with flourishes of rock 'n' roll and Jamaican dub for a sound that's elegant and entrancing.

Their first single "I Believe in You," has already been embraced by national tastemaker KCRW, and is making "believers" of fans everywhere. KCRW is spinning "I Believe in You" in regular rotation, and the song perfectly previews everything to come on Black Dub.

Black Dub have also plotted a special vinyl release of Black Dub for September 28. This edition is pressed on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl and an album digital download card is included.

With their hypnotic live chemistry, Black Dub's fall tour promises to be as unforgettable as their debut album.

The band features Lanois on guitar, New Orleans virtuoso Brian Blade, a seasoned musician who has performed with jazz titans such as Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock, on drums, the incendiary and impassioned vocals of Belgian born Trixie Whitley, the beautiful 22-year-old daughter of the late, great Texas bluesman, Chris Whitley, and rounding out the quartet is famed Louisiana bass player Daryl Johnson.

‘Music City 411- Robin Gibb Tribute

By: Andrew Vaughan

It’s truly heartbreaking to see the pain Robin Gibb’s family is going through right now. The Bee Gees singer is in a coma after suffering with liver cancer and most recently pneumonia. Of course, several big name pop acts have passed away recently- Davy Jones of The Monkees probably the most recent. Now I knew Davy to talk to but I’d never met his family. Which is why hearing about the Gibb family’s pain surrounding Robin is so difficult to handle.
