Sherry Lynn - Christmas On My Mind (Official Music Video)
A chance opening for Sammy Kershaw at Pitman, New Jersey’s historic Broadway Theatre in 2007 was the first step in what has since become Country recording artist SHERRY LYNN’s ‘journey of a thousand miles’.
“Of course I’ve traveled a lot further than that,” laughs Lynn. “But it is a very true saying. It’s all in that first step!”
That step has indeed taken Sherry quite a long way. To date, her journey has led to three Top 40 hits from her Sophomore CD, A BEAUTIFUL LIFE: “What A Day To Shake A Heartache,” the title-track duet with Country icon Crystal Gayle, and her sassy toe tapper “Girls Will Be Girls.”
The vivacious vocalist made her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2013 when she and Crystal performed their duet for excited fans in Music City. “It all seems unreal sometimes,” says the entertainer. “You go on a show like that and it reaches so many people it’s crazy. In reality, I’m a mom with five kids and I still do all the things that ‘regular’ folks do. I just happen to sing for a living.”
A native of Clayton, New Jersey, Sherry now splits her time between her home state and the bright lights of Nashville, Tennessee. “I do have to be in Nashville quite a bit,” explains the lovely brunette. “But I do still love to play for the ‘hometown’ crowds.” In fact, in her home state, Lynn’s path has also found her sharing the stage with Miranda Lambert, Chris Young, The Oak Ridge Boys, LeAnn Rimes, Randy Hauser, and John Rich.
Currently she’s been recording her third studio album “These Are The Nights” in Nashville with Crystal Gayle’s son Christos Gatzimos. The disc features tunes by stellar songwriters including a remake of Kris Kristofferson and Fred Fosters hit “Me And Bobby McGee” that was made famous by Janis Joplin in 1971.
“I am so proud of this record,” Sherry states. “I relate to the songs and they resonate with my audiences.” The semi-autobiographical mix runs the gamut from light-hearted to soul-searching, but consistent throughout are the heart-felt vocals of a New Jersey girl who is working hard to make it to the top. For Sherry Lynn, there is no turning back. She’s well on her way – and that first step is far behind her now.
“For everything I’ve accomplished, there are a million more to go. There are a lot of things in the works right now,” Lynn confides. “More music, more shows, more everything. This is the journey of a lifetime for me.”
