Best Options for a Small Living Room Rug?

Hi everyone, I’m redecorating my living room and trying to figure out the best rug size for the space. I want something that’s cozy but doesn’t overwhelm the room. I came across a 4 x 5 rug and wondered if that would fit well in front of a standard sofa. How do you decide on the right rug size for a small to medium living area? Are there style or material considerations I should keep in mind? Any personal experiences with a 4 x 5 rug would be really helpful.
