Golf feels like it’s bouncing down the road, is this worn struts?

My Golf has started feeling like it’s bouncing down the road, especially over uneven surfaces, and the ride has become noticeably less settled than it used to be. It’s not undriveable but it’s uncomfortable and a bit unsettling at speed, and I’m fairly sure the struts are on their way out. I’m in Al Quoz so I’ve been looking into Fast Volkswagen strut replacement in Al Quoz, but I want to know whether this is definitely the struts or if it could be something else in the suspension. Has anyone had this bouncing feeling and what did it turn out to be? Also, should I be replacing both sides at once or just the worn one, because I’ve heard mixed advice on that. I’d rather do it once properly than pay twice.
