Has anyone else dealt with calls from Richardson Fair & Cohen?

I’ve been getting calls from a law firm called Richardson Fair & Cohen over the past week. They leave vague messages about a “legal matter” and say I need to call them back immediately. I haven’t been served any papers or received anything in the mail from them yet, but the calls are starting to worry me.

I looked them up and it seems they are a debt collection law firm. I’m honestly not sure if this is a legitimate debt or if it could be a scam or a case of mistaken identity. The caller ID shows a number from California, but I live on the East Coast, which seems odd.

Has anyone here had experience with this firm? Are they known for being aggressive or for suing people quickly? I want to handle this the right way. I’m planning to ask them to send me a written validation of the debt in the mail before I discuss anything over the phone, but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on what to expect or how to deal with them.

I also found a resource online that explains some of my rights in this situation, which has been helpful, but I’d really appreciate hearing from others who have been in a similar spot. Any advice is welcome.
