How do book writing experts actually help new authors?

I have been trying to understand how beginners turn rough ideas into complete books and I keep hearing about book writing experts but I am not fully clear on what kind of support they really provide Do they mainly help with structure storytelling or full manuscript development For someone new to book writing is expert guidance really necessary or can practice alone be enough I would really like to hear honest experiences or suggestions from the community
