How to Install a Mirror Without Any Damage Need Advice

    Hey everyone,

I recently moved into a new apartment and want to hang a large decorative mirror in my living room. I have never done this before and honestly have no idea where to start.

The wall appears to be drywall, but I am not sure if there are studs behind it. The mirror weighs around 15 kilograms, so I want to make sure it is mounted safely and securely.

Should I use wall anchors or find the studs? What tools do I need? Any tips on getting it perfectly level would also be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey!

For a 15 kg mirror, finding the studs is your safest bet. Grab a stud finder from any hardware store and locate them before drilling. If studs are not where you need them, use heavy duty drywall anchors rated for at least 20 kg. You will need a drill, screwdriver, spirit level, measuring tape, and a pencil. Before drilling, measure equal distances from the ceiling to each hook point and use your spirit level across both marks to ensure they are perfectly aligned.

If you are unsure about which anchors or tools work best for your wall type, learn more here before making a purchase. A handy trick is to place painter’s tape over your drill spots to prevent the drywall from chipping. Once mounted, give the mirror a firm shake to confirm it is secure before letting it go.

Take your time with the leveling step as even a small error is very visible in a mirror. Good luck!
